Well, it has been a minute since I have been able to talk to you all, and I already miss it! It has been a crazy two weeks for me wrapping up the school year at my university in Chetumal. All the students are taking their final classes, writing their final essays and studying their final notecards before the last bell rings and everyone starts preparing in a different way to celebrate the holidays with their families. Walking around the campus, the air feels a little different. It is more still, and it seems as if time is moving slower than normal. Groups are sitting at their lunch tables for five minutes more, friends are giving each other one extra hug, students are taking their time walking from class to class and everyone, in his or her own way, is saying goodbye. Even though the spring semester will start in a month or so, and the schedule will pick up where it left off, all students are taking the time to be thankful for the people that surround them and the moments they have shared these past months.

I feel myself moving in the same way. Although I am part of the school and I will be on my own vacation time soon, this week also signifies the moment where I have to say goodbye to you all, my favorite fifth graders at Carlos Tapia School.
