To Be Continued...

I am taking this moment slowly because, like my students at the UQROO, I want to remember all the wonderful things we explored, learned and questioned together and I want to share with you the inspiring lessons you taught me. So let’s take five more minutes at our lunch table today, shall we?

Over these past 12 weeks (12 weeks, can you believe it?) we have seen a lot together. We landed on the coast in a quiet city called Chetumal that was filled with sniffing dogs, fragrant flowers, squeaky bikes selling sweet treats and more tasty new fruits and vegetables than we knew what to do with! We took planes, taxis, combis and buses to jungles, mountains, old ruins, new cities and many many beaches. We hopped under waterfalls and climbed to the top of pyramids! Between adventures we learned new things about languages, traditions, relationships and cultures. Together we named a pet lizard (he is still doing great by the way!) and we realized that México and the U.S. have a lot more in common than we might have originally thought. Through this adventure we got to know a lot of really cool people, and for me, one of the best parts has been getting to know all of you.

Without meeting each other before, we all jumped into this adventure together, trusting in one another. On the first video call, you all welcomed me into your classroom with huge smiles, asked me so many thoughtful questions and even remained patient through my long-winded answers, as well as my hearing problems. After we hung up the first call, I sat in front of my computer and just smiled. I was so happy that I got to meet an incredible group of students like you.
