A Day in the Life of Varsha

For formal attire, I wear Western clothes, like trousers and a blouse. But I also wear Indian formal clothes such as saris for other formal occasions.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

I like to watch Netflix, to read books and to talk to friends. 

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak five to six languages (all South Indian) and Hindi (North Indian).  Here's how you say "Hello" in these languages:

Kannada— "Namaskara"

Telugu— "Namaskaram"

Tamil— "Vanakum"

Malialum (Keralan language)— They don’t say "hi."  Instead they just ask "Are you good?"— "Sugamano?"

Hindi—"Namaste"

Do you have pets?:

I don't have pets. It's not very common to have pets here in India. 

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

I have traveled around most of India. 

What do you do for work?:

I am a research assistant for a project working with surrogate mothers. 

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

You should visit India someday! There are lots of places to see and explore.
