Traveler Bio

Hi everyone! I’m Sammi, a desert-dweller and native of Phoenix, Arizona. I am always smiling and I pride myself on being a positive, sunshine-filled, curious human.

I am fascinated by many things in this expansive world, such as how humans interact with the natural world, how creative arts like music and dance can change behaviors, and the role that women play in climate resilience.

I just graduated from Santa Clara University, where I studied environmental studies and psychology. I spent time studying and conducting research in Bolivia, Denmark and East Africa. Through my travels, I learned that interacting with individuals who are different than me fills me with joy.

With the dream to continue being a global citizen, I am now pursuing research in India through a Fulbright grant. I am studying how women can be more integrated into economic activities in the clean energy sector, both as leaders and entrepreneurs. My excitement to begin my journey is building as I think of the cultural activities I hope to engage in, such as Indian dance, culinary experiences, festivals and much more.

When I am not pursuing my intellectual interests, you can find me hiking in the mountains, dancing in any public space or singing a favorite tune. I’m also a yoga instructor and I love to eat veggies, watercolor and read just about any book.
