There are 27 students from the University of Washington here in Bangalore. In our group, we are working with seven different organizations. Each has its own mission to improve challenges in India. My peers and I have learned about water, road safety, waste collection and many other issues in the city! I want to share the unique projects my fellow students are working on to show the variety of ways we are helping people here in Bangalore, and the different perspectives we are seeing along the way.

For the past four weeks, my three classmates and I have been working with an organization called Hasiru Dala, which provides recycling collection services to 35 different regions of the city. That's over one million people! These recycling centers collect household waste from residents, and sort the waste by categories before sending it to other recycling centers. We have learned that these centers are run by men and women who have worked in waste collection for many years. They have taught us about their challenging work and shown us the pride they have for keeping their city clean.
