Pondicherry, a French beach town in India?

Photos

We left town on a Friday night on an overnight train! Pondicherry is about 10 hours away by train. Here is a selfie of me waiting at the station!
Pondicherry, or Pondy, is right on the east coast of India. We arrived early in the morning. I went for a walk down the beach, and then I headed to a cafe! The weather was warm! It was 30 degrees Celsius by noon!
There was a tall statue of Gandhi on the boardwalk in Pondy. It was about seven meters tall!
Pondy was once a French town, and as a result some of the culture still remains. There were amazing French-style bakeries all over the city!
Here is what I had for lunch: a chocolate twister and chicken pesto sandwich!
The beach at Pondy was incredible! The beaches once faced erosion problems, so large rock barriers were created. I took this photo from on top of one of them!
Street vendors are common here in Pondicherry, and I thought this cart had beautiful plants. I asked the owner if I could take a photo of him, and he agreed!
