The main language spoken in Hobart, and all of Australia, is English. This week is a special week for Hobart because there is an international meeting being held in the city. Delegates, or representatives, from all over the world have come to Hobart this week to represent their countries. Walking around the city this week, I have heard people speaking Spanish, French, Russian, and Mandarin!
Here in Australia, we use "Australian dollars" or "AUD". This is different than the U.S. where we use "USD". The money in Australia is different colors, including pink and blue. The best part about Australian dollars is that they are completely waterproof!
A bottle of water at the grocery store would cost about $3 AUD, which is about the same as it would cost me at home in the U.S.
The best meal this week was the noodles I got from a Chinese restaurant in Hobart. The chefs at the restaurant are very talented. When you order noodles, they grab a piece of noodle dough and stretch it many times to make it into thin noodles. Then they cook the hand-pulled noodles in a yummy broth. This is my favorite restaurant in Hobart.
