Mochitsuki

Mochitsuki is also a tradition that is connected to modernization in Japanese society. My friend’s family mentioned that mochitsuki is a tradition that is no longer commonly practiced by households in Japan because people are too busy to partake in the lengthy and labor-heavy mochi-making process. Instead, many people these days choose to buy ready-made mochi from the stores.
