This skittish creature is a large rodent, bigger than any I'd ever seen in the U.S., and so big that I actually thought it was a skinny capybara at first.
Ecuador is about to enter the wet season. Although we experience fall, spring and summer weather daily, Ecuador does have two 'seasons', wet and dry. I thought we were already in the wet one because of the daily storms, but according to my students, it hasn't even started yet!
