My New Friend, Anna-Ophélia

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

At school we eat in the cafeteria. It is a room in the basement of the school. There are tables and stools. Every student has a place to sit. There are no hot meals. Everyone takes a box with toast inside. The box has toast and other light foods such as cheese.

I love eating spaghetti with salmon and peas. I also love tomatoes and fries.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At school, I speak Dutch. To say "Hello" it's simple, it's "Hallo." With my mom, I speak French at home, and with Stacy, I speak English. In French, "Hello" is "Bonjour." With my dad, I speak Dutch like in school. For my extra-curricular activities, the language I speak depends on the activity. For my piano lessons, I speak Dutch, but my meetings with the elves (also known as the girl-guides-brownies) are in French. The girl-guides-brownies is similar to the Girl Scouts in the United States.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

My best friend is named Annette, and my other girlfriends are Charlotte, Estelle, Manar and Sam. Some boys in my class are called Jacob, Raphael, Achilles, Daniel, Jason and Jerome.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

We have lessons in mathematics, Dutch, religion, sports and history-geography. I prefer the history and geography courses. My mom gives me French lessons at home, and I love those lessons too.

What is your homework like?:

I have to learn multiplication tables and do language exercises.
