The main language spoken here is Spanish. Some people also speak Awajún or Quechua, which are the traditional languages of the pre-Incan tribes. However, these languages aren’t very common today and aren’t taught in schools.
In Peru, the money used is called soles. There are bills for S/200, S/100, S/50, S/20, and S/10. There are also coins worth S/5, S/2, S/1, and smaller ones for 50, 20, and 10 centimos. Each bill is a different color and shows a famous Peruvian person on the front and native animals on the back. For example, the S/200 bill has Saint Rose of Lima, the patron saint of Peru.
A bottle of water costs S/1. For context, S/1 is about $0.29. Most tiendas (stores) will just sell them out of large refrigerators or freezers without a price. Street ventors will also sell water bottles out of buckets during hot days or during sports events.
