Transportation in Morocco: Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakesh

The taxi was old and cute, packing four or five people in a time and making loud noises. You could tell the engine was very old.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

As I mentioned, because these three cities are very congested, I do believe that the exhaust from the cars, buses and motorcycles adds to the polluted smell in the air. However, this is a common problem. It can be found in any major city throughout the world.

I did observe that a lot of the locals walk and the streets are full of people going from one destination to the other. This could be for various reasons, including it being easier to walk. Also, not every family may have the means to be able to afford a car or motorcycle, especially when the public transportation system is very strong.

There was also a lot of horses and carriages that people used to get around as well. These were mainly found in touristy areas as a way of providing rides for tourists. Tourism is a big part of the economy here!
