Transportation in Morocco: Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakesh

For instance, cars, motorcycles and bikes are the main modes of transportation. Especially in the major cities, I observed that there are a lot of cars and taxis to take people around. Some locals also relied on the public transportation buses that were usually packed with a lot of people.

Another major source of transportation was motorcycles and electric bikes. It was interesting to note how sometimes families would share a bike. It was common see up to three people on the bikes going from one place to another.

It is also very common to find locals walking to their destinations instead of relying on public transportation. The cities were packed with people walking! In many ways, it reminds me of my home city of Havana, Cuba. In both Havana and these three cities, the cars and taxis are old, the air smells of gasoline and the traffic is crowded. I loved about these cities. They are unique in their own way, and full of life, with the lights, buildings and people.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Unfortunately, we mainly traveled around the cities in a tour/coach bus so we did not get to experience public transportation firsthand. However, the second main source of transportation for us was walking around. I personally really loved and enjoyed this! I not only felt healthier but I also I enjoyed the scenery along the way. Walking, especially in the major cities that had a lot of important monuments, allowed me to enjoy the beauty of the areas and take my time to enjoy my time in Morocco.

During one of our nights in Rabat, my older host sister took us out to go sight-seeing and we got the opportunity to ride in a taxi through town.
