What main languages are spoken here?:

The main language here is French! There is also a large population of Arabic speakers who come from Morocco or Algeria, former French territories. There are entire streets and open air markets where you will hear mostly Arabic with only little bits of French.

A fun fact about Nice: given how close it is to Italy, and there being a local train system, the language you will hear the most on the weekends is Italian. The same thing happens in the nearby italian cities, the language you will hear spoken the most is French.

What type of money is used here?:

The currency in most western European countries is the euro, 1 euro being about $1.20. What's different about the euro is that they don't have bills for anything smaller than 5 euros. Instead they have coins for 1 euro and 2 euros. They do also have a 1 cent but many places round up or down to avoid using them. Shopkeepers always used to tell me the only way to use the pennies would be at wishing fountains, or they would tell me just throw them in the trash!

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

On average, a bottle of water costs 1-3 euros depending on how big the bottle is. France is known for its water that's naturally high in minerals.
