Getting to Know Me

I was sad to see that humans hurt nature. When I was in third grade, I learned about "reduce, reuse, recycle." Ever since then, I have done my best to be nice to the planet. I recycle my old paper and containers and am nice to plants and animals. I have kept learning about the environment ever since. When I learned that the Thailand program at my school focused on the environment, I really wanted to learn more.

Thailand is very different from the United States in many ways. For one thing, Thailand has a warm, tropical climate. This means that it is warm there all year long. It does not snow in Thailand, but it does rain. Because of this, there are different plants in Thailand than there are in the United States. For instance, in Thailand, there are a lot of banana trees. Banana trees have very big leaves. Often, here you will see things wrapped in banana leaves instead of plastic! This is cool because banana leaves are kinder to nature than plastic but can work just as well!

I like learning about the differences between Thailand and the United States such as these. For example, in Thailand, the people, speak a language called Thai. The Thai language is very different from English, but I really like learning it. As you learn more about my journey to Thailand, I want to teach you more Thai language!

Thank you for reading more about me and how I chose to go to Thailand. In Thai, the words for "hello" and "goodbye" are the same. I will say goodbye to you in Thai. Sa-wat-dee!
