The Little Filipino Girl

This person is me and what you just read about is my life. My name is Chelsea Nicole De Mesa. Quite long, isn’t it? In the Philippines, people usually have two first names. To give you an example, my two younger siblings are named Kaneesia Kamil, and Paulo Miguel. I do prefer to be called Nicole, but Chelsea is okay as well.

I’m currently in Seoul, South Korea, attending Yonsei University as a study abroad student. I’ve been here since August 2018 and have been happily enjoying every day. I really like Seoul, and South Korea has been my dream country to live in. This may be a short autobiography, but I hope that through my other articles, we can not only get to know each other more, but also learn from each other. As I write this, I have been reflecting on my life and have come to notice a few themes, two of which I’m hoping you can learn from me.  First, there is no one way to live a life.  All cultures and languages are beautiful. We should all be proud of where we come from, yet approach differences with nothing but genuine curiosity, an open mind, and an open heart. Second, and finally, never give up on yourself.  Fight for yourself and for your dreams because you canmake them come true, as I made mine.
