A Kebab Shop Interview: From Kosovo to Geneva

Naim: My boss? He started this restaurant and has been here for 40 years!

How do you get around?:

Naim: I walk!

He pointed to the ceiling and laughed, telling me: Because I live so close (right above), I walk down to work, and I bike around town if I need to.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

Naim: This white shirt!

What do you like to do in your free time?:

Naim: I am on my phone a lot

I ask him what he does on his phone.

Naim: Scroll on TikTok, play games, read the news?

Naim: I read the news to see what is happening in the world.

I asked: News from Switzerland or back home?

Naim: I follow the news everywhere, even back home!

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Naim: English, Spanish, French, and Albanian. Hello is përshëndetje

Naim has also taught my friends and me how to say faleminderit (thank you) because we order kebab from his restaurant so often!

Do you have pets?:

Naim: No, but I hang out with friends.

Naim then points to his boss and smiles: Like my boss. He is named Vaxhid.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

Naim: No, it is very dangerous. I have one uncle who lives in the United States, in Ohio. I hope to visit him, but for now, I stay safe here in Geneva.
