Life in San Sebastián

Introduction:

I lived in San Sebastián, Spain from September 2018 to January 2019. While there, I saw how the environment affects what people typically eat and how they live. San Sebastián is near the ocean, so the people catch a lot of fish to eat. They also use ships to trade fish and other things with other countries

There are also some negatives about living in San Sebastián. For more than half the year, the weather is rather dark, cold and rainy. This can make people feel sad and tired a lot of the time.  They look forward to the sunshine that comes back in the spring!

What makes this environment special or different?:

The environment in San Sebastian is very special, because it is near the ocean and the mountains at the same time.

The city is located right on the Atlantic Ocean, the same ocean along the east coast of the United States. This ocean gives the people access to a beach for swimming and walking. Many kids go to the beach to play soccer and play with their dogs. Is this something you would like to do?

East of the city are the Pyrenees Mountains. The tallest mountain is more than 10,000 feet high! Throughout the winter, from December to May, it rains or is cloudy nearly every day. This type of weather has a big impact on the people who live here. A lack of sun can make them feel sad and tired. The weather is much better in the summer.
