Elephant Homestay

When an elephant is too hot, it uses its long trunk to throw sand or dirt onto its body to cool down. Then, when it's time to bathe, they roll around in the water on their sides and stomach to clean off. Elephants are herbivores, so they eat the plants around them, including sugarcane, bamboo leaves and tree bark.

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

Both African and Asian elephants are considered endangered species. Issues that elephant populations have been facing for years are poaching, often because of the ivory industry and wildlife trade, and deforestation. Poaching is the illegal hunting and catching of wild animals. Elephants are hunted for their tusks, which are made of ivory, or their skins. They are sometimes killed in conflicts with humans if they eat human crops. They are also sometimes sold to tourist operations that want elephants to draw tourists, like unscrupulous circuses or zoos. Deforestation is another major concern, as elephants' habitats are becoming smaller.
