Overpopulation in Malta

Introduction:

Malta is a beautiful island that could easily be destroyed if people aren't careful. Many locals are thankfully making the effort to recycle, separate compost from their garbage, take public transportation rather than drive and clean up the beaches, etc. to ensure that their environment stays beautiful. Malta is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen, and I'm impressed every day with how the community works together to protect it.

What makes this environment special or different?:

Malta is the world's tenth smallest and fifth most densely populated country, which means that it's a very tiny island that has A LOT of people living on it. Since the country is so small, almost everyone knows each other (or knows someone who knows someone else!). It has a small town feel, despite the number of people living here. Since everyone knows each other, there is a sense of community that is always working together to help others and any problems that might arise.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

Since Malta is such a small island, you can be at the beach no matter which direction you drive in about 20 minutes. The sea is absolutely gorgeous and crystal clear because of the efforts the people of Malta go through to protect it. It's the ideal location for snorkeling and diving.
