Journal Entry:

I hope that I've been able to give you a brief insight into life outside of the United States. Whether you choose to stay where you are, travel to another town or state or travel abroad, I hope that you continue to learn about the lives and cultures of others. The United States is a melting pot of so many different people, and the more that we learn about others, the more we can understand them and the more peaceful the world will be.

I didn't travel abroad until the summer before my sophomore year of high school when I went to Italy for one week, and I didn't leave the country again until I was at university. If you haven't even considered it, don't worry. It's never too late! My dad is in his late 50s and he will be traveling outside of the United States for the first time in his life in about a month when he comes to visit me in Malta!

Traveling isn't all about taking the best Instagram photo, relaxing on the beach or eating your weight in food. A huge part of what makes travel so special is getting to know a place that is different from what you are used to. When we step outside of our comfort zones, we learn so much about who we are and who we wish to be in the future.

The world is a big place full of unique foods, customs and traditions that are just waiting to be explored.
