Ramadan is a very special time for Muslims, people who follow the religion of Islam. It happens once a year and lasts for about a month! During this time, Muslims try to be the best versions of themselves by being kind, helping others, and spending time with family and friends.
One big part of Ramadan is fasting. That means that from sunrise to sunset, Muslims don’t eat or drink anything—not even water! They do this to practice patience, be thankful for what they have, and remember to help people who don’t have enough food. But don’t worry—young kids, sick people, and those who need to eat for their health don’t have to fast! Ramadan is a time to be thankful, make good choices, and feel close to God. It’s also a time for families to come together and share love and kindness.
Ramadan is such a beautiful holiday. Many of my friends in the program are Muslims, so they fast during the day, and I'm fasting with them! The hardest part has been not having any water during the day, but the big meal at the end of the day makes it all so worth it!
My favorite Ramadan tradition is Iftar, which is the big dinner at the end of the day! The food is AMAZING, but my favorite part is being around loved ones.
