Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

This week, I went to Sangdang Sanseong Fortress, a historic mountain fortress located on Mt. Uam just outside the center of Cheongju. Although it didn't seem far on a map, it still took me an hour to get there because of the mountain range.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

So far, I've taken a 15-hour flight from JFK airport to Incheon, South Korea. Immediately upon arrival, I took a 2-hour bus ride to the orientation site and, most recently, a short drive to my current placement. I'm hoping to do a lot more traveling within the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

How did I get around this week?:

I took the bus around Cheongju city, and it was incredibly easy to navigate! The public transportation is super convenient and very timely. The screen at the bus stop tells you exactly when the bus will arrive.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I visited the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Cheongju, which features a unique "open storage" concept, and it used to be a tobacco factory!
