The Poppy in London

Introduction:

What parts of the natural world can you find in London?  You can find deer, beautiful sunsets, birds of many kinds, and also the poppy flower, which is a famous sight across most of Europe.  People in the U.K. traditionally wear this flower in remembrance of veterans who died during World War I.

What does this creature or plant look like?:

This plant is called a poppy. It is beautiful red flower that I found in London. It is very small, but its bright red color brightens up any field or park. Poppies grow wild, but they are often cultivated for their colorful flowers. Poppies can be over a meter tall with flowers up to 15 centimeters across.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I felt pretty amazed when I saw the flower, given the time of the year. I found it in late October, but it usually starts to bloom in early June. I was visiting the University of Oxford, near London, when I saw it in a park, and the small flower stuck out like a surprise. The flower reminded me of the red birds I see in Florida, so I became infatuated with it instantly!

Where does it live?:

This flower grows throughout the U.K. and many parts of Europe. The day in which I found it was also the day I was able to capture a beautiful sunset. I found the plant while traveling to the University of Oxford. The area has a cool view of some animals and trees.
