A Day in the Life: Interview with My Spanish Host Sister, Irene

For university, I wear casual but nice clothes. I like jeans, sneakers and colorful T-shirts. In the summer, I love wearing colorful dresses and sometimes caps or beanies. On weekends, I stay comfy!
What do you like to do in your free time?:

In my free time, I like hanging out with my friends and we often get coffee or go shopping. I also love watching movies with my mom. In winter, I enjoy reading on the sofa with hot chocolate. I also play tennis, which I really enjoy.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Spanish, Catalan (the language of my region), French, and a little English. At home we speak Spanish.

  • In Spanish: Hola
  • In Catalan: Hola
  • In French: Bonjour
Do you have pets?:

Right now, we do not have any pets. But when we were younger, we once had a small dog stay with us for a weekend. We also “adopted” the class pet during school vacations. Sometimes it was a rabbit and sometimes a guinea pig. We loved taking care of them!

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

Yes! I have traveled to many places. Recently, I visited Paris with my brothers, Greece with my family and the island of Menorca with my friends.

What do you do for work?:

I’m in my third year at ESADE Business School in Barcelona. I study economics, marketing, management and how companies work.

Is there anything else you would like to say to students in the United States?:

I hope you liked learning about my life in Spain! I hope you can visit Barcelona one day.
