Hi everyone!

I can’t believe my time in Barcelona has come to an end. I’m excited to see my family and friends for the holidays, but it’s bittersweet to leave a place that became home for the past three months. I’ve truly loved my experience here and the people I’ve met along the way.

Living in Barcelona allowed me to fully absorb another culture and better understand how people in this region live. People here are calm, warm and family-oriented, and they really know how to enjoy life. I’ll definitely miss going out for tapas with friends and wandering through the city, admiring its beautiful architecture.

One of the best decisions I made was choosing to live in a homestay. My host family taught me so much about Spanish culture from the food we shared to the expressions that helped me sound like a local at the dinner table. I even got to meet their extended family and they taught me how to make paella, which I can’t wait to recreate for my own family at home. I made an effort to be respectful, attentive and open throughout the experience.

Before coming here, I did not have in-depth knowledge about Catalonia. But now I’ve learned how distinct the Catalan identity in Barcelona is from the rest of Spain.
