French is the primary language spoken in Paris. Paris attracts visitors from all over the world, so you're likely to hear many other languages walking through the streets or in a café.

What type of money is used here?:

Euros are the primary currency in France. If you pay with a debit or credit card, many restaurants and grocery stores use the new sans contact (without contact) chip cards for small transactions. It seems like swiping is a thing of the past here in Paris! Have you seen bank cards with the chip?

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A 16.9-ounce bottle of water costs about $0.22 in the grocery store. If you order water in a restaurant, bottled water could cost over four euros!

What was the best meal this week?:

I went out for sushi with a friend, it was delicious! The variety of food that is available here is astonishing. I make an effort to try something new every week.

What music did I listen to this week?:

After the fire at the Notre Dame on Monday, choirs and musicians from all over the Paris area flocked to the Seine to perform near the monument to show their support for the monument. I heard one group of high school-aged students perform the night after the fire.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

Playing the first two matches for a soccer tournament!
