Taiwanese Spiders

Introduction:

What has eight legs, a blue and yellow back, and grows to the size of my hand? A Taiwanese spider!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

The spiders of Taiwan are massive! These eight-legged beasts can grow to roughly the size of my hand and make webs that would cover my entire body. Up close, they are actually beautiful. They have a long yellow and blue back that would be cool if they weren't so terrifying.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

All my life, I have not been the biggest fan of spiders. The ones in Taiwan are larger than I have ever seen and look as though  they can eat birds. The first giant one I saw scared me half to death. However, I have come to like these giant beasts. Even though they look a bit scary, they eat all the other bugs and don't come after me. I'd rather have a spider that does nothing to me than a bunch of mosquitos attacking me.

Where does it live?:

I mainly see these spiders around the nine-mile running path around my town. They are spread out between trees and bushes. Sometimes they make giant webs above the tree line and look as if they will fall on me any minute. That hasn't happened though... yet.

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Each spider, whether larger or small, makes a decent size web that captures hundreds of bugs that fly through the air.
