Traveling Around Rangsit

Introduction:

I have been in Thailand for over 30 days now. It might sound like a long time, but trust me, the days go by so quickly with lots of things to do and see that it really seems like I have been here for fewer days than that. While here, I have traveled through most ways of transportation such as train, taxi, bus, tuk-tuk (which is an open back bus), boat, and walking, of course. Most ways are cheaper than others like walking but overall, transportation is not a problem here like in the U.S. In the U.S., most of our parents have more than one car. I own a car back home, and both my parents have each their own vehicle.

How do people get around?:

While most people also drive, it is easier to walk or ride a scooter, which is a motorcycle, but less loud and a lot smoother than the bikes back home. Using a taxi might be more expensive than riding a bus or van. For example, riding a van to the mall from the University is only 15 baht which is $0.48, while taking a taxi to the mall from the same place is $4.79. Plus, riding a van is fun because you can take the same van with all your school friends, and it seems like you're going on a trip instead of simply to the mall.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I love using the van.
