Phi Phi Island

Introduction:

Three of my friends and I decided that we wanted to escape the pollution of city life and head out to an island for our long weekend. We were all very excited to explore Phi Phi Island which we had read a lot about. Phi Phi Island is farther south so we knew that we had to plan this trip with time and care. About a week before we left, we did all our research. In my room, three of the girls had laptops and phones out, each looking up a different aspect of the island. First were the rooms, next were the flights, followed by boat tickets, and finally how much money everyday things would cost. We were up until nearly midnight planning our trip! It never crossed our minds to think about the nature of the island. It wasn’t until we were nearly there that some of the tourists on the same boat as us started talking about visiting Monkey Island. My friends and I were confused. What was Monkey Island? Weren't we on Phi Phi Island? There were monkeys on a different part of the island; however, no one told us about these other surprising creatures that we were going to come upon!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

This creature was the first live creature that I saw. I had heard about Monkey Island, but never about Phi Phi being home to so many cats! These adorable creatures roamed the streets absolutely at ease with the human traffic all around.
