Food in the United Kingdom

Introduction:

The United Kingdom has fun and interesting traditions like afternoon tea time and tea breaks during work. There are also well-known foods that are very typical here, like fish and chips and meat pies. Curry is also very popular here, as there is a large Indian population.

What food did I try?:

I have tried a lot of delicious foods here, like Indian food, fish and chips, porridge and plenty of tea! One of the best meals I've had was a traditional Sunday roast, which includes lamb, vegetables, mashed potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding, which is a type of baked good that's a bit like a biscuit! I also tried bacon, which is more like Canadian bacon or ham than the bacon we're used to in the U.S. Another interesting thing is that pickles are called gherkins here!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Everything was delicious! The food here is very fresh, but not as varied in the United States. In the U.S. we definitely like our portions bigger, with more meat, and we generally prefer them to be far sweeter!

How is the food prepared?:

Food is generally prepared the same way it is here as it is in the United States! Tea is a common snack, with milk and sugar added as preferred by the drinker. If you’re lucky, you’ll be offered a scone or cake of sorts with your tea!
