DARTing Around Dublin

Introduction:

Getting around Dublin is similar to how you would get around any major city in the United States, but it looks and works slightly different. These past few weeks I have been learning the best ways to get around. There are many different modes of transportation in Ireland. Here we will explore a few.

How do people get around?:

In Dublin, people have a variety of different transportation options available to them. These options include walking, driving, biking, riding motor scooters, and taking public transportation such as the bus or the Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART), which is the local train. The DART goes outside of the city into the suburbs and is a great way of getting to places such as the coastal towns of Howth (9.3 mi northeast from the city center), Malahide (11 mi north) and Greystones (18 mi south). In Ireland, people drive on the left side of the road instead of the right!

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

So far, I enjoy using the buses to get around. I have a special student card that I put money on and it allows me to get to and from different parts of Dublin. This card provides me a discounted fare on buses, meaning that I do not pay full price to ride the bus. My card does not allow the bus to charge me more than five euro a day for any number of rides.
