Dr. Zahlner: A Woman of Many Talents

My father lives in Lower Austria on a type of farm, where I grew up, and raises some sheep. He has a dog. My mother mostly lives in Vienna. My youngest sister has two horses and two dogs. I also have a 14 year old dog named Nyoka.

How do you get around?:

I own a little red car to drive around the mountains. I have also driven across Europe to Austria three times! To go to Madrid, I usually go by bus or train. This morning there was a terrible traffic jam and I was stuck on the bus for two hours.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

I mostly like to wear comfortable, sporty, not very elegant clothing, but of course, sometimes I like or have to dress up.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

In my free time, I do a lot of things. I like to go hiking and mountaineering with some friends and my dog. I like learning languages, and study Japanese and Arabic almost every day. I play the violin, which involves lots of practicing, and sing soprano in a choir. Last but not least, I train Shito-Ryu Karate several hours a week. I am a third dan black belt and am a student of Master Ishimi in Madrid.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak German, English, French, Arabic, Spanish and a little Japanese. In Austria we say hallo or servus

Do you have pets?:

I have a Border Collie and Akita mix, the 14 year old Nyoka. She's still in good enough shape to go hiking with me!
