What main languages are spoken here?:

Barcelona has two official languages: Spanish and Catalan. In fact, every student in the Barcelona public school system learns both. This means that everyone who grows up in the city is bilingual. How cool is that?

What type of money is used here?:

Being a part of the European Union, Spain uses euros (€) for currency. (In fact, 19 of the 28 European Union member states use euros as currency). Bills come in quantities of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 euros. Then there are the coins, in sizes of 1 and 2 euros and a range of céntimos (cents).

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A two-liter bottle of water (if you’re really thirsty!) costs around €2.50, or about $3. I would say this is comparable to Oregon! How does this price compare to a two-liter bottle of water in your hometown?

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal of this week was the lunch I had yesterday on my friend’s terrace. We stuffed ourselves full of grilled sausages, chicken kebabs, homemade hummus and pan con tomate (bread with tomato), a Spanish staple.

What music did I listen to this week?:

I spent this weekend going to a number of free concerts in the city.
