Exploring neighborhoods like this has helped me see how many different cultures contribute to life in Paris.
Living abroad has taught me that traveling isn't always about visiting famous landmarks. Sometimes, the most interesting experiences happen during ordinary activities like grocery shopping, taking the train, or exploring a new neighborhood.
One of my biggest personal accomplishments has been learning how to navigate Paris on my own. When I first arrived, figuring out the Métro system could be confusing, especially with so many different lines, stations and transfers. I often had to rely on my phone for directions to make sure I was going the right way.
Now, I've become comfortable getting to school and back without constantly checking my phone. I've even memorized which Métro line takes me home! It might sound like a small accomplishment, but being able to navigate a completely new city on my own has made me feel much more independent and confident.
Every week, Paris feels a little less unfamiliar and a little more like home. I've realized that studying abroad isn't just about discovering new places. It's also about learning new skills, becoming more independent and finding comfort in a place that was once completely unfamiliar.
