Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in Andorra!

Introduction:

Today, I want to tell you all about how Andorrans recycle and take out the trash. As you've seen in previous articles I've written, Andorra is a beautiful country, and Andorrans want to take care of it as much as possible. This way, every human, animal, and plant can thrive and benefit from its beauty. Because of this, Andorra and its government take recycling and trash collection very seriously. I've lived here for three months, and I rarely see litter anywhere, which I think is pretty awesome!

What community need did I learn about?:

This week, I learned about recycling and trash collection in Andorra. It is a community need that everyone in the country relies on but probably does not think much about, including myself! The government requires that Andorrans separate their recyclable materials, such as plastic, glas, and paper, from their nonrecyclable materials, like trash. The government provides large recycling containers (similar to dumpsters) where citizens can throw their trash away. Then, each week, the country's waste collectors come in big trucks to collect the waste and take it to facilities, both inside of Andorra and further afield in Spain and France, for further processing. Usually, waste collection in Andorra occurs at night, so it is common to hear garbage trucks doing their work in the middle of the night.
