Svíčková, A Perfect Winter Meal

You pour the sauce over the meat and serve it with knedliky (kuh-ned-leek-ee), which are soft bread dumplings. Next, you put cranberries on top and it's ready to eat! It has so much creamy sauce that it almost looks like soup!

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

The Czech Republic has cold, dark winters, so its traditional foods are usually warm and filling, perfect for chilly days. These dishes are usually made with vegetables that grow under the ground, enabling them to grow even in the cold winters. A lot of recipes have potatoes, carrots and onions.
