I didn't travel at all this week! Since I got here just a few weeks ago, I have been staying in Amargosa to get to know the culture here. I have really enjoyed getting to know the people and places in Amargosa, but I am also excited to travel to other parts of Brazil. In a few weeks, I am planning on going to the beach!
So far, I have traveled about 4,500 miles. I flew from New Orleans to São Paulo, which is the biggest city in Brazil. From there, I flew to Salvador, which has the closest airport to the town I am in now. The flight was about two hours. From Salvador, I drove about five hours until I finally reached Amargosa! The drive was long, but I got to drive past many towns and saw more of the beautiful mountains.
I have been walking everywhere that I go! Amargosa is a very small city, so I can walk to the grocery store, the pharmacy, the university and the plaza all from my apartment. Walking around has been a great way for me to get to know where everything is in the city. Since it is so hot here, I have to remind myself to bring a lot of water on my walks.
