A Sleepy Tree Climbing Koala in the Australian Forest

Introduction:

Have you ever seen a real koala? While hiking through Lamington National Park in Australia, I had an incredible surprise. A wild koala suddenly climbed up a tree right in front of me! I stood quietly underneath the tree for 30 minutes, watching its every move. It yawned, showing a tiny front tooth, and munched on leaves for lunch. I couldn't believe I was watching a wild animal so up close doing its normal daily activities. Come along and meet my fuzzy Australian rainforest friend!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

Koalas may look like little, fluffy teddy bears, but they are real wild animals! They have soft grey fur, a white chest, big fluffy ears, and a large, black nose. Their arms and legs are strong, and their paws have sharp claws that help them grip tree trunks. Koalas have two opposable thumbs on each front paw to help them hold on while climbing and reach leaves to eat. Also, here is a fun fact: koalas are marsupials, which means mothers carry their babies, called joeys, in a pouch! My koala even gave me a big yawn! I could see its little front tooth as it opened its mouth. Have you ever seen an animal yawn?

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I felt amazed!
