Traveler Bio

G’day, mates! My name is Lauren, and I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I’m a college student at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in upstate New York, studying Biology, which means I get to learn all about animals, plants, and the amazing world around us! I have always loved being outside. Growing up, some of my favorite things to do were hiking through the woods, spending summer days at a lake, camping, exploring new places, and looking for creatures along the way. I even worked at a nature camp, where I got to spend my days outside teaching kids about the natural world!

Now, I’m going on a HUGE adventure! I’m traveling more than 9,000 miles from home to Brisbane, Australia, where I’ll be studying at the University of Queensland. This will be my first time living long-term in another country, and I’m so excited (and a little nervous!) to see what life is like on the other side of the world.

While I’m in Australia, I want to dive deep into what it means to become a wildlife detective. I’m hoping to see kangaroos, koalas, colorful birds, sea creatures, and maybe even some spiders and snakes! I’ll be exploring rainforests, coral reefs, beaches, and city life. I can’t wait to share what I discover with you and bring you along for all the big and small parts of my larger Australian adventure!
