I've been a homebody lately! The trip from Quito to Corazon was 150 km round trip. Can you tell me how many miles I traveled?
To get to Quito, I traveled from Lubbock, Texas to Miami, Florida and then from Miami to Quito.
Since I've been in Ecuador, I have traveled to Mindo three separate times. It is a fantastic place, but the roads curve and turn so often, it makes me a little car sick sometimes.
I have been to Otavalo twice. Once to shop at the huge open-air market, and a second time to do a volcano hike.
I went to Ibarra and stayed at a hostel overnight to climb another volcano, Imbabura.
I went to Cotopaxi National Park to do the short climb up to the Jose Rivas Refugio (Refuge or base camp).
The farthest I've traveled so far was a one week trip to visit my friend, Erin, in the Galapagos Islands over Christmas. That was a wonderful experience!
If I am going to the historical center, I use the Quito Metro. It's a subway system that travels north and south through the city. The fare is 45 cents one way, so 90 cents for a round trip ride. The Metro is very clean, safe, and easy to use. There is only one northbound route and one southbound route, so you can't really get lost.
For all other trips, I go by Uber.
