All of these different ways of getting around show how people in Botswana work with nature and the land to travel safely and have fun along the way.
To travel to Botswana, I will start in New York City and take a very long airplane ride across the Atlantic Ocean. I will sit on the plane for many hours while we fly over the ocean and different countries. After a long trip, I will land in Johannesburg, which is a big city in South Africa. From there, I will get on a smaller plane for the next part of the journey. That second flight will take me north into Botswana. As we fly, I will look out the window and see wide open land, rivers, and maybe even animals below as I get closer to the safari region. What I'm looking forward to the most, though, is to travel in a mokoro boat through Botswana's flooded Okavango Delta.
When I ride in a mokoro boat in Botswana, I will feel very calm and happy. The boat moves slowly and quietly through the water, so it feels peaceful--like I am floating in nature. I like looking all around me and seeing plants growing in the water and animals nearby. Sometimes I feel a little excited too, because I never know what I might see next--maybe birds flying, or hippos in the water! It also feels special, like I am part of the safari and very close to nature.
