Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

This week I traveled to the city of Quito, which is about an hour bus ride away from my town. Quito is such a beautiful city filled with many people, which always reminds me of New York City.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

While in Ecuador, I travaled from Quito to Puerto Lopez, which is a lively beach town. By bus it takes about 10 hours to get there. Although it is a long commute, I really enjoyed exploring the differnet beaches. My favorite one is called Los Frailes, which is set in a national park. Here you can find white sand and warm blue waters. Also, you can hike to the mirador (lookout point on a cliff) and catch a view of the beach from above. This trip was totally worth the long ride!

How did I get around this week?:

This week I mainly took the bus! The bus is the easiest way to get around. They are also way more comfortable than the NYC MTA Buses. On these buses, the seats recline and are nice and cushiony. A bus ride to work costs me 0.30 cents. Buses connect you to places near and far, and it is possible to travel from the Andes Mountains to the city for just $10!

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week is Ilalo's summit. This was my very first mountain that I climbed in Ecuador, and the views were spectacular.
