My Interview with Stella

Introduction:

Stella is one of my best friends in Taiwan. Her desk is right next to mine in the teachers' office. She helps me out all the time! I have been very lucky to have her because she helps me translate when my Mandarin isn't good enough. She also invites me to hang out with her family.

Stella is really interesting to talk to because her English is very good and she has been to the United States before. She can offer a really unique perspective on Taiwan and the U.S.

What is your full name?:

Ji Mingxing or Stella. Ji is my last name and Mingxing is my first name.

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

I live in Taichung City, QIngshui District. My house is a two-story apartment near the school where I work. The main thing that is different from a house in the U.S. is that the first room is the biggest, and it is our sitting room. It is where we invite people to come in and talk.

What is your family like?:

In my family, there is me, my husband, my daughter, my son and my parents-in-law. We all live together in one house, which is very common in Taiwan. In Taiwan, we think it is important that our extended family live together. My parents also live nearby.
