Ramadan: A Month of Fasting and Community

Introduction:

While living in Morocco, I have noticed that daily life changed during a time called Ramadan. Morocco is a Muslim country, and many people here celebrate this important month. During this month, shops open later, and the streets become busy at night.

What tradition did I learn about?:

A tradition I experienced while in Morocco is Ramadan. Ramadan is a special month where people don’t eat or drink during the day. This period of not eating or drinking is called fasting

When the sun sets, they break their fast with family and friends at a meal called Iftar. After Iftar, shops and restaurants start to open, which means I have been shopping at around 8:30 at night!
