This week I travelled over 39 miles, or 62 kilometers, to go grocery shopping. It doesn’t sound that far, but it takes a lot longer travelling on a bumpy dirt road!
The distance from Washington, D.C. (where I began my journey) to Botswana is approximately 7,621 miles or 12,264 kilometers. I’ve also travelled to the neighboring countries of South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe! They all have your favorite animals and beautiful things to see.
In my small village, I walk everywhere--nothing is too far away. In fact, I can walk the entire length of the village in just 45 minutes. When I go grocery shopping, I try to get a ride from a friend in their car, or I will take the 'combi' which is a small van packed full of people.
The most interesting place I visited this week was a crocodile farm! There must have been over a thousand crocodiles at the farm for research, conservation and to eat! Would you eat a crocodile?
