What main languages are spoken here?:

Most people in Australia speak English. Hobart has a lot of immigrants, so I hear people speaking Arabic, Spanish, Italian, French and more. 

What type of money is used here?:

We use Australian dollars or AUD. The money isn’t paper like it is at home: it’s more like plastic! The bills are bendy, so you can’t crumple them. This currency also waterproof with a clear plastic window in the middle of the bill. 

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

Prices here are similar to Massachusetts. So, a bottle of water costs the equivalent of $2 (US).

What was the best meal this week?:

I like to stop at the market on my walk home from class and buy ingredients to make dinner. This week, I made pasta with sausage, spinach and tomatoes. 

What music did I listen to this week?:

I like to listen to music that reminds me of home, so I’ve been listening to Noah Kahan’s music. He’s a singer from Vermont. Some of my friends from Tasmania like his music, which is cool because he’s from New England like you and I!

 

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I started volunteering in a lab at my university that studies zooplankton.
