Otherwise, the national transit card, the EasyCard, is commonly accepted as a form of payment. You can load the card with money and use it for both the bus and the convenience store.
A bottle of water costs about NT$10, or 30¢. A bottle of Coke usually costs NT$30, or $1. Coffee is more in the range of NT$45, which is $1.50. Bubble tea can be between NT$60 and NT$75, roughly $2.00 or $2.50. Since milk tea is so cheap here, I drink a lot of it!
This week I had a taste of home! One of my friends, Drew, invited my friend Maria and me over to his apartment to have hamburgers. The three of us are all Fulbright students in Hsinchu, and it’s great to gather some friends and think about home sometimes.
In close second place this week was a traditional Taiwanese breakfast in Taipei! I had a toasted Nutella sandwich, a cup of Taiwanese milk tea, and a traditional Taiwanese egg roll. This is similar to a crepe cooked with eggs and, in this case, some delicious Taiwanese beef.
This week, I’ve been listening to the New York Times newscast more than music. To take a break, I’ve also been listening to Slayyyter. Over the weekend, a friend recommended a playlist of 2000s pop punk.
