What main languages are spoken here?:

English is the main language spoken in Belfast, but some people speak Irish, which is very cool! In the South of Ireland, all of the road signs are in both Irish and English. The airport in Dublin has Irish on all its signs, too!

What type of money is used here?:

We use the Great British Pound (GBP) in Northern Ireland. In the Republic of Ireland, or 'the South,' the Euro (EUR) is used. Here are some conversions:

1 GBP = 1.34 USD

1 EUR = 1.16 USD

1 GBP = 1.15 EUR

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water costs around 90p, or 90 'pence.' That is about $1.20!

What was the best meal this week?:

My favorite meal this week was a Cuban sandwich I got for lunch with my friend Maria! She is a fellow Fulbrighter from the USA, studying at Queen's University, another college in Belfast! I got a ropa vieja (cuban sandwich), which has beef and peppers.

What music did I listen to this week?:

This week, I had to work on my final exams for my program, so I listened to a lot of lofi study music. Outside of that, I've been listening to Fontaines D.C., an Irish alternative rock band that the locals love!

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I had the most fun this week meeting up with some of my friends to go around the shops in the city.
