Spanish is the main language spoken in Colombia. In some areas of Colombia, indigenous languages such as Wayuunaiki and Páez are also spoken. However, in my town, people only speak Spanish.
Colombian Pesos are used here. $4,000 COP is equal to about $1 USD.
A bottle of water typically costs $1,000 COP in a grocery store (about 25 cents).
I went out to eat one day this week at an ejecutivo place that I described last time. I had rice, lentils, some sort of pumpkin side dish and plantains. It was delicious!
Since being in Colombia, I’ve started listening to more Spanish music. I like reggaeton, vallenato and salsa. This week, my friends played me some music by the Colombian musician Yeison Jiménez. Music is a big part of Colombian life. My neighbors or local business are usually playing some music at any hour.
